Motocycle Road Trip

This weekend two friends from Wisconsin came to visit. They’re on an 8-day motorcycle trip across Michigan and we tagged along for two days up to Cadillac and then the Sleeping Bear Dunes.
	This is Joyce, AKA Bad Mama Milwaukee. She cleans out her fingernails with a switchblade. This is Jim, his buzz cut is the result of recently being released from the navy.
Here’s me at my first opportunity on the bike. We stopped at a rest stop that had milk in the vending machines. Joyce was very impressed. I played it all up (you’re welcome Jennifer).

I calmed down when we exited onto 10 toward Cadillac and greatly enjoyed my 45 minutes that day. It was beautiful riding weather with crystal blue skies and puffy white clouds. We winded through back roads and saw multiple small lakes, ferns burnt through lack of rain, the Weasley residence, and numerous other bikers. I learned that secret little wave bikers give each other and handed it out with studied nonchalance all the time screaming inside: I AM NOW COOL.We got to Cadillac and went sprinting into Lake Mitchell. I collected a duck feather on the shore for Miss B back home.

	On day two we drove up to Sleeping Bear Dunes where we enjoyed equally beautiful weather, but with a bit more wind, which feels a lot more like wind on a bike.

	Here’s a photo of stop 9 of the Dunes. That’s the one with a 400 foot drop, just this side of completely vertical. There’s big signs warning you that the climb back up is EXTREMELY STRENUOUS. If you look real hard at this picture you’ll see the moron who took his two kids down, ages about 4 and 6, with a cooler and a blanket. This is the kids sitting down (again) and refusing to move.
