Standard Contractor’s Nightmare Redux

OK, remember when I said that after all that tile shopping we were going with hard wood? Well, we did. Kind of. I mean, I signed a contract, made a hefty down payment and the contractor ordered the materials. Then the next day I called and canceled the hard wood. Then the next weekend I went back to the tile store. And picked out the same floor tile I had liked before.

And. And the interior designer suggested I use the coppery purple as cut-ins on the floor. I took the coppery purple squares along with two other choices and left the store. Then I had a panic attack, couldn’t drive, and had to pull off into a strip mall parking lot for 20 minutes. Classy.

Now I have made what I believe is the final decision. I am going with a tile with reddish overtones. With burgundy glass cut-ins. I have ordered it. I feel comfortable with it. I do not break out in hives when I think about it. The coppery purple was doing something strange to me after awhile there.

We’re taking a pass on the countertops and backsplash, so it will just be the floor for now, and perhaps a new paint job to liven things up.
