For the past 7 years Hubby has done an annual Chili Day. Chili is served along with sour cream, cheddar cheese and tortillas. No salad. No side items. Chili.
This year two old-time friends came and brought peppers from their gardens – jalapenos, serranos, habaneros and salsareffic. Hubby’s chili is not-to-be-toyed with chili. It is for serious chili eaters. It is hotter than the blazes although he does make one batch of “Grandma-style” chili and two batches of “medium” spicy people can mix as serves their tastes. I’m a medium-hot girl myself.
This year while he was cooking his friends put in a new window. As you can see, we were looking pretty ghetto there. We cracked the windows trying to scrape off old caulk. Then the cracks grew. Finally we had to reinforce the windows. In come the reinforcements. Hubby was darned determined that he and I would do this alone, together, ourselves. I balked and balked.
