Rube

Last weekend Hubby and I went and applied for passports. Mine was so outdated I had to start from scratch, his we could simply renew. This summer we’ll be traveling to Canada during our Upper Peninsula vacation with my mom and in a few years we plan to visit some friends who are buying a home in France.

It cost half a fortune but I feel very much  better for having done it. Reflecting on the last years without a passport I’ve felt like such a rube. $99 round trip tickets come up for London? I’m out of luck, can’t just take off and go. A passport represents freedom. Independence. A world view.  I consider a passport a passport to the world on many levels and something that one should simply “have” even without a particular need in mind. The G-men have already cashed our checks so I think we’re in the clear. We expect ours in 3-5 weeks.
