The wine party was a success. I had wine quotes and wine quizzes and some reference books to answer questions placed strategically around the living room. The Fat Bastard Merlot was our least favorite, the Six Grapes port went over very well. Extremely yummy. I served 8 wines and 4 kinds of cheeses and one of our guests brought homemade bread to eat with it. Another guest brought 2 dozen delectable cupcakes.
I roasted a turkey and cooked a beef roast. Side items included smashed redskin potatoes, stuffing, gravy, peas and fruit salad. I also put out veggies with the cheeses – tried to take into account healthy eaters!
I read half a dozen books to get ready for the party, and watched hours worth of wine videos. I learned a lot. A mini-hobby to take up my spring. Unfortunately, I only tasted three of the wines during the party! I was afraid I’d fall asleep otherwise, which is my usual response to wine. I’m still working my way through the leftover wine, safely tucked away in the fridge. We’re planning to take another wine class with the same prof from last winter this upcoming fall if he teaches Wines of the New World.
