Basketcase Furniture

I’m not sure when baskets became a “thing,” but I do know I wasn’t into them.

Everywhere you look it seems folks are storing things in baskets, decorating with baskets, living out of baskets, and even buying furniture that is made up of baskets.

I just wasn’t into it.

I did not see the inherent “point” of baskets or feel the love. The thing is, they’re hard to escape.

One of the bathroom accoutrements that I’ve been shopping for is a little chest thing-y to store necessaries beside the commode. The piece of crap chest (complete in Pepto Bismol pink) that we’d been using until now has been retired. (When we moved in I assumed I could put anything pink in the bathroom and it would work, may God forgive me.)

I have finally purchased this piece of furniture and, as you might have guessed by now, it is all about baskets. While it is not my first choice to take “the road traveled by every other American buying stuff” I found it both hard to avoid and disappointingly appealling when I actually got down to making a choice. I found it has wormed its way into my heart.

I present: My first piece of basket furniture. We will be painting it in de rigeur borscht with a white drawer front.
