I am excited to report that a personal essay I wrote has been picked up by The Other Journal out of the Seattle School of Theology and Psychology. It’s called: Striving for the Divine: An American Convert’s Early Years in Islam.
It’s my conversion memoir, telling the story of my first year in Islam when I was 16. A librarian friend invited me to go to a writing workshop with her in 2017 and that sparked the idea to write it.
So, if you like my blog and wonder where on earth I got started with all this, or what it would be like to convert and deal with grave life concerns while you’re still in high school-or if you just want to read me coached and carefully edited- check it out! It’s about 5 pages long.
