But she always seemed like such a SWEET girl

OrobourosSo, why have I chosen Snake Lady Librarian as my moniker?

I went through a rough patch in my 20s and I adopted the orobouros — a snake eating its own tail — as my personal symbol. It’s a commitment to life, in all it’s ugliness and violence. The orobouros is also a symbol of renewal, and that’s what I was enjoying when my BFF gHost went with me to get a tattoo of it. The ugliness of life that I was committing to wasn’t far enough behind me for me to go for a little dolphin or rose so I chose the orobouros to represent “where I am in my life right now.” It stuck, kinda like the tattoo. I hid it behind a corsage on my wedding day.

Yes, this is the same tattoo that Agent Scully got on the X-Files. Yes, I was a crazed X-Files fan who watched at least one ep every day for years on end. No, I did not get the tattoo to be more like Gillian Anderson, that would be silly.

(I got it because the follow up show, Millennium, which also adopted the orobouros as it’s symbol, doubled down on the dark side of the X-Files and I was knee-deep in fandom. Shh, don’t tell, it’s cooler if people think it’s because of Agent Scully.)
