GATR’s Condo, Close to the River

I believe I’ve mentioned Great Aunt Totally Rocks.

GATR took special pride in her family and in the city of Detroit. She was the only member of the family never to leave it. Never to succumb to “White Flight.” And she was furious as it crumbled around her. The once-great city falling to crack cocaine ashes.

GATR took after her mother.  She lived independently after the deaths of her parents, in a condominium that she was very proud to call her own. #111. 8900 E. Jefferson Avenue.

I was shocked, when, doing research, I found that condos there run for a mere $16,000 for a two bedroom, two bathroom unit. GATR’s independence. Her home. Her life. Her pride in the city. $16,000, in 2010, for two bedrooms and two baths. Google reviews report it as filthy, with trash strewn about the hallways. GATR.
