Every year when I was little my Aunt Jan would gather all of the cousins at Thanksgiving and ask each of us what we were thankful for. Instead of resolutions for 2015 I’m going to consider what I’m grateful for in 2014.
I’m thankful for 12 years of marriage to a wonderful and patient man. Not every moment has been rosy for either one of us but marrying him was the best decision of my adult life. And so many good things have proceeded from this marriage! I didn’t know for sure when we made the decision not to have children if I’d be satisfied with that over a period of years. I find at 42 that I do not regret it or have reason to question it.
I’m thankful for the years I’ve been able to enjoy as an adult with my mother’s love right beside me. Dinners together in her cozy dining room and family trips to Greenfield Village and developing new family recipes via email. Yes, I am thankful to have these adult years with my mother.
I’m thankful to have my brain back. I’ve been struggling with the ability to concentrate during my difficulties with fatigue. It was terribly frustrating as I rely on my intellect not only to do my job and other high-functioning aspects of life, but also to navigate emotional waters. Being clever and quick and forward-thinking again was my greatest Christmas gift this year. Thank you to my doctors!
I’m thankful for my friends, old and new. Somewhere, sometime, I “learned” that it was harder to make new close friends as you got older. Bolder dash! Over the past two -three years I cultivated new friends that I appreciate, respect and enjoy. Cheers to new friendships!
Hubby and I made a banner decision this year and that was to begin a relationship with a financial advisor. Expensive but worth it! Thank you to Dragon for recommending her.
Happy new year everyone!
