This week we opened our hearts and our home to a taffy colored male kitten we named Scout.
He was part of a litter from a feral mama fostered by a woman here in Lansing. She watched over them, handled them and got them adoptable, and at the age of 8 weeks we picked one out.
We’re not sleeping much! He howls and yowls until you think something must be broken but it’s just breakfast time at 4 a.m. (and his traditional hunting hour). I heard that kittens don’t respond to catnip until they’re six months old but he loves it. He’s living in the master bedroom where his favorite spot is still UNDER the bed although I’ve brought him up on top of the bed repeatedly (and I TOLD him that was the best place to be). We’ve explained the Norris Family Medical Plan and how he benefits from this perk. His first experience with this particular insurance will take place tomorrow when he gets his first check up.
Scout and Candy haven’t met yet but she has already made her displeasure with the situation known. She’s not eating as well and she’s refusing her transdermal medication for hyperthyroidism after accepting it without batting an eye for three weeks. She’s very curious about the closed bedroom door. We plan to introduce them after Scout gets a clean bill of health.
More as it develops!
Nice Sonya! I’m jealous! Kittens are so much fun. Meow
